About me

Thomas Sattich holds a PhD in Political Science and Economics. The focus of his research is on the geopolitical implications of the sustainability transition. This includes international energy relations and industrial policy, the European Union, bilateral relations between EU Member States, and the role of non-EU-Members such as Norway and China in European politics. His methodological skills include qualitative methods such as text analysis, mixed methods (e.g. cluster analysis), and work with descriptive statistics and data visualization, for example network analysis. Moreover, Thomas has experience with Qualitative Comparative Analysis QCA.

Current research:

The University of Stavanger is leading an EU-funded project to develop a digital learning tool that allows users to engage in simulated international negotiations related to renewable energy and sustainability. In cooperation with Ghent University, Delft University of Technology, Technische Universität München, UiS obtained a financial grant from the Erasmus+ programme for developing this new tool.

The Advanced Gas and Carbon Dioxide Storage in Aquifer project (AGaStor, EEA grant), a cross-disciplinary research effort to facilitate the use of CO2 in Underground Natural Gas Storage (UNGS). As a part of the AGaStor project, on-going social-science research aims at investigating the societal implications of the mentioned technologies.
