In the rapidly evolving and complex field of engineering, engineers face the challenge of understanding the AI landscape within engineering applications, navigating ethical considerations, scoping AI projects, and identifying AI use cases within engineering workflows. This fully online course will tackle this challenge by introducing a big picture map of the field and by providing an intuitive understanding of how AI works.
Study programme
The course is intended for anyone who is interested in learning about artificial intelligence (AI) in an intuitive way. The course is flexible and fully digital with recorded lectures, structured in modules that can easily be adapted to fit your schedule.
Innovation is a core challenge for organizations in all phases of their lives. For established organisations, the challenge is to come up with innovation, to be able to create and deliver a steady stream of new products and services, and to improve internal processes to be able to do this. For start-ups, it presents itself as how they can manage the growth of a viable business through developing and refining solutions - and then scaling them. The importance of carrying out innovation in a manageable and structured way has recently been recognized by the upcoming ISO certification in innovation management. As in the case of ISO Quality Management and ISO Environmental Management, ISO 56001 will enable organizations to be certified if their innovation management system meets the standard's requirements.
This course introduces the concepts and challenges associated with the implementation of CO2 Storage in geological porous media (depleted gas fields and saline aquifers).
The focus is on key aspects of
CO2 storage (storage capacity, injectivity, trapping mechanisms and containment),
, storage site selection
, well planning and integrity
, monitoring regulations
and CO2 utilization.
Offshore Wind is an area of rapid growth in Asia, the US, and partly in Europe. The course Offshore Wind
Law explores the main legal issues of offshore wind: leasing, permitting, transmission, financing, power
purchase agreements, and procurement.
Wireless communication has achieved ever-greater popularity in the last two decades and has already become an important part of our everyday lives. This course will give you an overview of the most important principles and underlaying technologies that make 5G possible.
Deep Learning is a subset of Machine Learning which is completely based on artificial neural
networks. As neural networks are designed to mimic the human brain, deep learning is
likewise a human brain mimic. These neural networks are made up of a simple mathematical
function that can be stacked on top of each other and arranged in the form of layers, giving
them a sense of depth, hence the term Deep Learning.
Cyber security is a broad term that encompasses many different threats, defenses, and responses. This course will give you basic knowledge on how to handle these elements.
Now you can do a Minor in Gender Studies at UiS. The minor is a 30 ECTS in-depth study programme consisting of three courses that critically engage with contemporary questions about power, (in)equality and discrimination.
This course prepares you to read, understand, interpret, and create maps and other products from maps for geoscientific purposes. This is the only QGIS certified course in Norway.
Now you can apply for single courses at the University of Stavanger without having been admitted to a study programme.
The Faculty of Health Sciences offers open courses in philosophy of science and scientific methods to strengthen the knowledge base in the health sector.
