Independent project (BDA850)
In the independent project, each student immerses themselves in a topic of their own individual choosing and design. Through independent work supported by an academic supervisor, the student will develop, implement and evaluate their own project. The aim of the course is to further develop the student's knowledge as a dance practitioner in a broad perspective.

Knowledge
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- work independently on an independent project and put their topic into a larger professional context.
- plan, carry out and evaluate a self-initiated project.
- reflect independently on an artistic, individually devised process, bodily and/or theoretically.

After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- use components/methods that are inherent to independent project work
- use the experience from their project in further independent work with regard to planning, implementation and evaluation.
- reflect critically and analytically in independent project work.

After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- work independently in many types of artistic processes and apply a variety of working methods.
- understand which components are included in an independent work and transfer these experiences to other work processes.
- share their experiences from an independent project work.

The project will be evaluated with pass / fail by the assigned supervisor and an external one. The project description must define what is to be assessed. The mid-term seminar consists of a process presentation which must be approved by the supervisor. A separate plan for regular physical training must be included and implemented as part of the project. Here, the student is expected to participate in daily and weekly dance classes at the Faculty of Performing Arts. Any exceptions must be argued for in the project description and approved by the supervisor.Written assignments in the subject can be submitted in Norwegian or English. Swedish and Danish is also accepted.
Coursework requirements
Attendance in all organized teaching is mandatory in accordance with the UK Faculty’s attendance regulations.
Intro seminar, approved project description, midway seminar, supervision, implementation of training plan and final evaluation are obligatory in this course.
