The main focus of the course is on practically important human, engineering/technological, operational, and organizational aspects that affect reliability, safety, and security of modern Complex industrial systems in advanced and digital industrial contexts. Through real world examples, it empahises on how diverse issues and conditions can influence vulnerabilities of Complex industrial systems under demanding industrial settings, what aspects need due considerations in changing industrial contexts, what measures can be taken for reliable, safe, and digitally secure operations, for mitigating potentials for unwanted events, incidents, and accidents, as well as for enhancing intigrity and resilience.

Content

The course mainly covers practical human, engineering/technological, operational, and organizational aspects that exposes complex industrial systems to vulnerable conditions, based on many real world accidents and incidents from various industrial sectors. It also covers aspects that are important to consider during design, engineering, utilization, and operations of complex systems in modern dynamic industrial contexts from reliability, safety, and digital security perspectives. It provides insights about various approaches and measures that can be considered to reduce the potentials for unwanted events, incidents, and accidents, and to improve integrity and resilience in modern industrial contexts.

Coursework requirements

Presentation in groups

Obligatory presentations based on Group work. If the group presentation is not approved, then the student will have the opportunity to deliver an individual report and to have an own oral assessment.

Obligatory requirements must be approved by responsible lecturer within the given deadline.
