Erasmus+ traineeship mobility in Europe is available to all students regardless of their field of study or degree program. You can choose to go abroad during your studies as pasrt of your education or as a recent graduate in the year following the completion of your degree. As an Erasmus+ trainee, you will receive a grant to cover travel and living expenses.

The purpose of Erasmus+ traineeship mobility is to acquire practical skills and gain a better understanding of the economic and cultural conditions in the host country. It also provides exceptional opportunities to build networks and gain international experience that can be valuable for job seekers and in the overall job market.

Erasmus+ traineeship as part of your education

If you want to go on an Erasmus+ traineeship as part of your education, it is important to get this approved in advance by the department offering your degree program. Consult your academic advisor to find out if this is possible and what steps you need to take. For some degree programs, such as nursing and social work, traineeships abroad are already listed in the overview of exchange opportunities.

Erasmus+ traineeship for recent graduates

It is also possible to go on an Erasmus+ traineeship in the following academic year after completing your degree. The traineeship must last for a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 12 months.

This does not require prior approval from the department, but the internship provider must be approved by your faculty/department in terms of relevance to your degree.

The deadline to apply for the Erasmus+ traineeship grant for recent graduates is 1 June for traineeships in the autumn semester and 1 December for traineeships in the spring semester.

UiS has entered into an agreement with the Stavanger Region European Office in Brussels, which provides students with the opportunity to participate in a 12-month traineeship. Announcements are made every spring. Contact the International Office through the Exchange Guide for more information.

Apart from this agreement, UiS does not have agreements with external partners to send their students on Erasmus+ traineeships. This means that students must find a company/organization/institution on their own to carry out their traineeships.

Many companies and institutions offer traineeships for European students with Erasmus+ grants. Here is an overview of useful links:

  • The number of working hours per week should be around 37,5.
  • The traineeship provider must be approved by your faculty/department.
  • It is not possible to apply for a grant for an internship in Norway.

How to apply for the grant:

  1. Fill out and submit the online application form.
  2. Completed Erasmus+ Training Agreement. A representative from the study program at your faculty/department must sign the agreement.
