Information about the university
The university has around 50,000 students and offers a total of 58 bachelor's degrees and 64 master's degrees. The university is spread around the city and several of the faculties are located in downtown, historic buildings.
The language of instruction is basically Italian, but the university offers 11 master's degrees in English, within economics and computer science.
Pisa has around 90,000 inhabitants and is located in Tuscany. It is a beautiful and very old town, known for its leaning tower. It is a bustling student life in the city with many cafes, bars and lively nightlife. A short half hour by train away there are many fine beaches, and the medieval city of Florence is only an hour away.
Galileo Galilei, who was born and studied in Pisa, became a professor of Mathematics at the Pisan Studium in 1589.

For a description of proficiency levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, please click the link. Students who do not meet the language requirements will be offered online language courses prior the exchange period.
Students will be asked to demonstrate a minimum level of B1 in Italian if they choose courses offered in Italian.

If the exchange semester ends later than the following semester starts at UiS, the institute / faculty (in collaboration with the partner institution) will assist you so you are not delayed in your studies.
There are various possibilities for facilitation: You may take courses that do not require you to be present during the examination period, you might be exempted from compulsory teaching at UiS or you might get an extended deadline for submission of bachelor's and master's theses. Contact your study coordinator at the department for more information.

The Erasmus agreement is with Department of Information and Communication Technology and Department of Computer Science at University of Pisa. Students should choose courses from these departments.
