When should you apply for studies? There are different deadlines depending on your citizenship, language skills and educational background.
You are an international applicant if both of the following apply:
- You have a citizenship and Bachelor's degree from outside the Nordic countries AND
- You do not meet the Norwegian language requirements.
Your application period depends on your citizenship:
- Citizens from the EU, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein must apply between 1 February and 1 March.
- Citizens from outside the EU, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Nordic countries must apply between 15 November and 1 December.
You are a local applicant if one of the following applies:
- You have a Bachelor's degree from a Nordic country or
- You have the citizenship of a Nordic country or
- You meet the Norwegian language requirements
You must apply between 1 February and 15 April.
A Norwegian residence permit does not entitle you to apply as a local applicant.
*The Nordic countries consist of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, as well as the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland. If you only see the option to apply to international master programmes, contact masteropptak@uis.no and we can assist you to apply as local applicant.
Everyone has to apply through the application portal Søknadsweb. Applying within the wrong deadlines will result in rejection.
Students from outside of EU and EEA have to pay tuition fees in Norway.
Students from our partner institutions in selected countries may be eligible for the Norwegian scholarship scheme.
