Andrea Minto is promoted to professor in Law

The academic environment in the Department of Accounting and Law at UiS Business School is strengthening.

Andrea Minto has a PhD in law specialising in Economic/Financial Markets Law. He is also the Jean Monnet Professor in Law and Regulation of Financial Markets at Ca' Foscari University in Venice, where he holds the Chair in Digitalisation in EU Financial Law Studies (EUDIFIN) financed by the European Commission.

Professor Andrea Minto

Andrea's research interests reside at the intersection of Law, Economics and Finance. He has written extensively on economic law, European and comparative financial regulation, company and business law, FinTech and financial innovation. His work is in high-impact journals and has also won several prizes and fellowships.

He also has broad experience in supervising at the master/PhD levels.

World wide consultant

Since 2016 Andrea's been a consultant and external researcher at the Deutsche Bundesbank Eurosystem on FinTech, shadow banking, regulatory arbitrage, and Decentralised Finance. He has also cooperated as a consultant with many financial supervisors, international organisations and policymakers worldwide.

Andrea will now cooperate with Norges Bank on regulatory issues about central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), crypto assets and anti-money laundering (AML).

His spare time goes to nature, running, hiking, skiing, mountain biking and photography.

Strengthening the environment

The Department of Accounting and Law at UiS Business School strengthens its professional environment, which could be good news for the wish to develop a master's degree in Law. Earlier this semester, they hired professor Gert Johan Kjelby from UiB to teach law.
