– It feels unreal. We were not expecting to move forward to the final round, so it was a great surprise to learn that we were selected among 220 teams. We are slightly nervous but also very excited to present in the finals of DMC.

The students Vladyslava Bakhno, Jane Felia and Jade Cavalcanti are in the Digital Marketing Competition (DMC) finals. This international event gives undergraduate and graduate students the unique opportunity to pitch to real-life clients. It's hosted by the Purdue University Northwest's College of Business.

Wanted to challenge themselves

They all met throughout their master's studies at UiS Business School. After forming a group for the innovation subject last semester, they quickly realized how well they worked together.

– We were eager to try something different that would allow us to put our marketing knowledge into practice and expand our current skillset. Therefore, we searched for international marketing competitions and decided to challenge ourselves to participate in the DMC 2022.

In the finale, they will pitch their digital marketing strategy to MegMade - a Chicago-based furniture company- and present it live to the client's management team and active industry digital marketing professionals.

Fantastic achievement

Assistant professor in marketing at UiS Business School, Elham Ghazimatin, has supported the team throughout the process.

– They have gained a fantastic achievement. This is an excellent achievement for our master's students and a great recognition of the quality of our students at the international level, says Ghazimatin.

The students think they were chosen as finalists because of the detailed analysis and the digital marketing strategy they provided to the client.

– Our recommendations are based on theory and primary and secondary data. In addition, our different backgrounds came in support! Jade is most familiar with digital marketing strategies and analysis, Jane is more focused on consumer, market, and competitor analysis, and Vladyslava has more experience in e-commerce and digital campaigns. Our diverse skills, knowledge, and excellent cooperation have helped us achieve the finalist position.

The finale will be held on December 2nd.
