My summer job

Hi Navid, what are you doing this summer?

I am doing a summer internship at Laerdal Medical. I am working in the product management team with Lifesaver Solutions Training Products.

With the mission of "Helping Save Lives", Laerdal is dedicated to the advancement of resuscitation, patient care, and global health initiatives. We have been developing products and programs for voluntary organizations, educational institutions, emergency medical service agencies, hospitals, and the military worldwide for a long time.

I feel fortunate to work with such a big company.

How did you get this summer job?

The job circular was on LinkedIn and one of my peers shared it with me. I applied and waited a long time to get a call, but they confirmed the internship after two days of the interview. In total, 63 interns are working together in different departments, and this is the first time they have selected students from business administration. I have colleagues from UiS and some other universities in Norway.

Can you tell us a bit about what you do at work?

Mostly reading, analysing, and meeting! I have one individual and one team task for which I must know about the company's operations and talk to the cross-functional departments inside and outside of Norway. The products I have been working with are the simulation software of the incredible manikins that are used for various types of medical training.

How has the study programme prepared you for work?

As I am in the product management team, I am trying to implement my learning to solve my tasks, specifically in data analysis, communication, and innovation.

Will you have any time off to enjoy the holiday, then?

I have already taken a few days' off for vacation before starting to work so that I can concentrate on my tasks for the rest of the summer. Hopefully, I will be able to plan something before the start of my studies.

What is your dream job after graduation?

This is one of the questions I always find tough to answer, as I have an interest in various fields. If I prioritize them, I believe working in marketing and product management would be at the top of my list. I wish to be a part of any company to explore more related fields and apply my skills.
