How it works

As a student at UiS, you can sign up for an account at the ECIU University Engage portal. This gives you access to a wide range of short courses (micro-modules) and student team challenges at 12 collaborating universities in Europe. New learning opportunities will become available throughout the year.

When participating in an ECIU challenge or micro-module, you can apply to get your expenses covered.

An ECIU challenge is about finding a solution to a real problem related to sustainable development. The participants work in international teams with students from other ECIU Universities, and most challenges provide the opportunity to travel. Students can apply for funds to cover expenses.

Micromodules are online courses that can give you extra competence in a specific area, for example foreign languages, artificial intelligence or sustainable urban development.

Check out available challenges and micromodules on the ECIU University webpage

Academic credentials

Challenges and micromodules vary in length, from 1-2 days, to a whole semester. Many challenges provide ECTS and all micromodules provide from 1 to 15 ECTS.

All ECIU activities that provide credits are approved as higher education. Whether these can be included in your study programme must be assessed in each case, in the same way as other outside courses. Find out by contacting the study administration at your programme.
